Explain the role of India in Emergence of Bangladesh.

Large scale migration of Bangladeshis to India, in order to flee from persecution, led to massive social, political, Administrative & financial challenges for India.

Atrocities on people of East Pakistan by Pakistani Army including rape & murder lead to a huge humanitarian crisis.
Constant influx of migrants from East Pakistan to India, was creating various problems in border states such as struggle over usage of resources between locals & refugees was becoming unmanageable.
India provided food, shelter, clothing, medical aid to refugees despite tremendous strain on resources.
Being a closed economy, India was not in a position to continue spending resources for long. So India intervened, due to various strategic, domestic, economic, humanitarian reasons, through both, direct and indirect action.
Indian Government allowed Awami League Leaders to form Government-in-Exile (Calcutta).
India gave military training to Mukti Vahini Sena on Indian Soil.
In december 1971, Indian army directly undertook the operation for liberation of Bangladesh which lead to Indo-Pak war of 1971.
Conclusion –
1971 war demonstrated strength of Indian Secularism where Hindus, muslims & Sikhs, all stood together at the moment of crisis.
Shimla Agreement 1972 was signed between India & Pakistan. It paved the way for diplomatic recognition of Bangladesh by Pakistan.
